Kindergarten Testing Dates
Information for Incoming Kindergarteners!
Important Dates in August! Kindergarten Testing Dates – August 5th and 6th
At Stapleton we conduct a baseline screening at the beginning of each year to better meet every student’s needs. The screening will be held at the school and it is imperative that your child attends one of the screening sessions. Please choose a session in which the letters of your child’s last name is included. Please bring in a small, recent picture of your child (copies are fine) to the screening. The screening should last about 30 minutes. We look forward to meeting you there!

Kindergarten Round-Up and Curriculum Night – Wednesday, August 14th, 6:00 p.m. in the Stapleton Gym
We welcome families to join us for an information filled evening beginning in the school gym. Kindergarten teachers will be presenting information about the curriculum to be taught this year, as well as basic school and classroom routines and procedures. Following the large group information, class lists will be posted and families will be invited to proceed to the kindergarten section of the school to see the classroom and meet the teacher. Your child’s teacher will use this time to present information about herself and her class, provide you with information and pass out paperwork to fill out. Students will get to meet classmates before the first day of school! We will finalize the evening with parents signing up for individual Meet the Teacher times when they can return during the following day for personalized visits. We hope that you can join us!
Meet the Teacher Days – August 15th and August 16th (by appointment)
This is the chance for you to meet one-on-one with your child’s teacher. If you were able to join us at the Kindergarten Round-Up and Curriculum Night, you will have signed up for your appointment at this time. If not, your child’s teacher will be calling you to set up a time. This is when teacher, parents and student get the opportunity to talk before the first day of school! It is highly recommended that you bring your child so they have the opportunity to see his/her class and meet his/her teacher. Appointments will last approximately 15 minutes if you attended the Round-Up and Curriculum Night and you will be required to go to the school cafeteria to fill out necessary school paperwork either before or after your scheduled appointment. We can’t wait to meet you!

PARCC
The Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) is a consortium of 23 states plus the U.S. Virgin Islands working together to develop a common set of K-12 assessments in English and math anchored in what it takes to be ready for college and careers. These new K-12 assessments will build a pathway to college and career readiness by the end of high school, mark students’ progress toward this goal from 3rd grade up, and provide teachers with timely information to inform instruction and provide student support. The PARCC assessments will be ready for states to administer during the 2014-15 school year.
